At 92 Dental, we have set up a sleep therapy service to help people suffering from sleep disorders such as severe snoring, sleep apnoea and insomnia to sleep well. Our approach is multi-faceted and takes into account the individual’s needs and circumstances. In particular, we look to understand and resolve the underlying cause of one’s sleeping difficulties, rather than mask the problem with medication.
Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Treatment
Severe snoring and Sleep Apnoea are sleep disorders characterised by problems with breathing while asleep. They cause the person affected to snore in a way that suffocates them and they therefore wake-up repeatedly during the night, gasping for air. These nocturnal wake-ups can happen so quickly that they are not remembered, but they still decrease the quality and quantity of sleep.
The lack of good quality sleep caused by sleep apnoea can have the same adverse affects to your health as insomnia. Additionally, the restricted breathing caused by Sleep Apnoea can put strain on your heart and cause elevated blood pressure.
Very severe Sleep Apnoea can be life threatening and require major medical intervention. However in over 95% of cases the problem can be effectively treated using a simple dental appliance which our dentists can make.
These devices are to be worn when sleeping, and will reduce snoring and the chances of waking up during the night. They offer a simple and elegant solution to Sleep Apnoea.
If you think you may benefit from a Sleep Apnoea appliance, please book a consultation with one of our dentists here or call us on 020 8748 1381.
